The Rainbow Bar Crawl!

Purple at the Peculier!

Part One!

Part Two!

Last color: Violet, aka Purple. Last bar: The Peculier Pub. Our fit of nostalgia led us to finish where we started the August crawl.

The group made a unanimous decision to celebrate with a beer named in honor of the great Jimi Hendrix:

Purple Haze.

Even Mike put aside his beloved Corona for this awesome beer!

And do you see this? Do you know what this is? This is Javier gazing off into the future, and having the prescience to drink a beer before hurl reprimanded him again.

I put some songs on the jukebox, because we needed tunes. I was so inspired by the music that I felt greedy keeping the orange flower on my shirt. I wanted everyone to get to enjoy the flower. I thought that would be just hilarious! Drunk logic is awesome.

Mike was so inspired by the magical flower of love that he proposed to Javier!

Denis thought he could escape the flower by dancing with our waitress!

Photobucket

But you can't escape the flower.

You see this? (Hi hater!)

The Return of Hatless Graham!

Because Donnie and I decided that it wasn't fair that only the bartender got to wear Graham's hat. If I shared my flower, Graham should share his hat. This is only fair.

Sadly, Graham had to leave :'( I got all sad, because I realized I probably wouldn't see him again until I have money to go to California. And right now I don't even have money to pay my LIPA bill, so. But I was so happy he came out, and completed the rainbow with us : )

At this time, I gave Graham and everyone else their favors! I drew pictures of cocktails on little white pails, and filled them with gold-foiled candy – pots o' gold at the end of the rainbow! And each pail had another rainbow friendship bracelet on it, because you can never have enough.

Unfortunately, I did not get a picture of the favors.

It was almost last call, so we made the most of it.

Sadly, the bar was kicking everyone out, and it was time to part ways. So home/back to the hotel we went.

And here's where I get all misty-eyed and earnest.

There are a lot of people who say things like, "Myspace friends don't count." This has always bothered me. "It's just Myspace." Who says? And what does that mean? Because last week, I met three people who were "just" Myspace friends. Every single one of them is awesome.

Saturday night, I got the amazing gift of hanging out with three friends that I've known since the eighties, a friend I met at karaoke, a boyfriend I met at karaoke, and three friends that I only know because of Myspace. It was incredible.

I hate the term "real-life" friends. Maybe because I always had pen pals growing up, but I never understood why you have to be in the same room with someone to have that person "count" in your life. I have friends on Myspace that I am 100 times closer to than many people that I know in person. Because you become friends out of shared interests, hearts, sensibilities, humor – not convenience.

So to all of my "real-" and "fake-life" friends out there – I love you, and am grateful for you, and if I've never met you before, I hope to one day :)

Perhaps we'll meet in January! When we will be wishing bon voyage to Donnie at an International Bar Crawl! Drinking a drink from/in honor of each continent! What about Antarctica, you may be wondering! Well, what's better than a frozen drink in January? I hope to see you there. Costumes are encouraged :-D

The Rainbow Bar Crawl!

Green, Blue, Pink, and Pizza!

Previously, on, The Rainbow Bar Crawl.

So now it was time for "Green." We left Caliente Cab Company, and along the way made some friends!

Photobucket

Remember on the bar crawl in August, when Javier heckled those Boston College people? Well they'd left by now, so it was safe to go to:

Photobucket

They even had a shoutout on the wall, confirming our choice!

Photobucket

In the meantime, Shannon, Mum, Ruth and Marc were hungry. They left to get Vietnamese food and never came back :'( I will leave it at that, so Shannon is forced to comment. Clever, right?

Shannon wouldn't want me to not move on though, for she is Irish, and would want green drinks to be drunk. For me, it was never a question, what my drink would be. A Quarter Irish, as discovered from across the country by Mr. Todd Langwell. Javier concurred.

No one believes that these could be good. The waitress reacted much like the bartender from Long Beach did – with a combination of curiosity and disgust. But we assured her that they were delicious, and that we were drinking them in honor of Todd, since he was a Myspace blogger who could not be here tonight, at which point I started yelling to Donnie, "Doesn't Todd rule!" and Donnie was like, "Yes!" and we all toasted to Todd and his awesomeness, Javier, Donnie, and I with Quarter Irishes, Graham with a Rolling Rock, acceptable because it is a green-bottled beer.

Photobucket

Obviously, that toast provided a natural segue to Libertarianism, and fittingly enough, who should walk in then, but Denis!

Photobucket

Denis RULES. Javier and I actually met him separately, but at the same karaoke. And we've been friends ever since! Everyone knows Denis, and he makes every gathering even more fun : )

Photobucket

Since we were back on the original street of the last bar crawl, Graham became adamant that he must get a slice of pizza from the same place as last time. We explained to Mike, Donnie, and Denis that it was tradition. Mike joined in the festivities, since he comes from Vermont, where they don't have pizza!

This pizza is really amazing. I know this because Mike kept giving me bites, and they were the most delicious pizza bites I've ever had. The pizza was such a hit that Mike and Graham went back for more, meaning serious business in their matching red tops.

Photobucket

"Blue" was next, and Graham, Javier, and I were still being all nostalgic from two months ago, so we decided to return to the wind tunnel bar!

Photobucket

There, we got Electric Lemonades. In case you don't know, those are LITs, only instead of triple sec and Coke, they have blue curacao and Sprite – yummmm. But be careful with them. Consider that my PSA to you.

This bar is a lot of fun. Javier said it was his favorite of the night! Everyone was chilling and/or dancing. The bartender got enamored with Graham, stole his hat, and danced on the bar!

I'm not going to lie. I did some dancing to "Sexyback." I figured I'd just put that out there right now. It seemed like the right thing to do at the time. Luckily, it was dark.

Hatless Graham!

Naturally, the next logical step was to take a picture of the bathroom! Seriously though, when I saw it, I was majorly creeped out, because, in keeping with the week's theme, it reminded me so much of "Saw!" And God bless Javier, I asked him to take a picture of it, and he actually did.

My sweet boyfriend, taking pictures of toilets! Dream lovah!

Onward!

Despite this bar's name, it was not, in fact, The Bitter End of the crawl. We were up to "Pink." Yes, the next color is "Indigo," but blue, then indigo, then violet just felt too monotonous. Pink needs representation! Denis and Donnie got Cosmos. Graham declared that he was done drinking, but because he is a good sport, took a sip of Donnie's Cosmo, to participate.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Javier and I had Sex on the Beach (har har!).

Photobucket

Photobucket

This is already long, and the last bar was an event unto itself, so I will conclude in a separate blog, with a special message of love and friendship awwwww.
